Best time to visit

 

Summer Season in Kashmir: The summer season in Kashmir is from March to May. Probably the best season to experience the melting snow, cherry blossoms, and tulip festivals. The whole valley blooms at this time as the dark grey winters bid adieu. The temperatures are quite favorable for travel. Temperatures are generally between 15 - 25 degrees. Evening and nighttime are a little chilly so we suggest you carry a fleece as well. 

 

Monsoon season in Kashmir: The monsoon season in Kashmir is from June to September. Well, Kashmir doesn’t get much rainfall but Jammu does. It is an off-season and an apple season. Not many prefer to travel this time of the year. But, if you are planning then you must check the weather forecasts.  Temperatures are generally between 10 - 25 degrees. Due to rain, the atmosphere is cold so we suggest you carry a fleece as well. 

 

Autumn season in Kashmir: The autumn season in Kashmir is from October to November. Indeed the best time to witness the golden maple leaves. This season attracts majorly the photographers and cinematographers to shoot and display the best. The whole valley and paths are covered with the leaves of golden and red chinar trees. The temperatures are usually between 9 to 20 degrees. The winter starts kicking in. Views are unexpressible. 

 

Winter season in Kashmir:  The winter season in Kashmir is from November to February. Undeniably, the highest amount of snowfall is received here per year. Which, the attracts thousands and lakhs of tourists. Especially the state has started winter adventure sports which also is a big point. Such as, the ski and snowboarding. The whole valley turns into a winter wonderland. The temperatures are dropped in the negatives from 0 degrees to -10 degrees. Mode of convenience to reach Kashmir

 

Kashmir by airways: Travelling to Kashmir by airways is one of the easiest, most convenient and preferable modes of transportation. The Srinagar airport is an international airport but majorly is connected with all major Indian cities. We have everyday flights to Srinagar from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc. Major Indian airlines such as Indigo, Air India, go air, and spice jet fly regularly to Srinagar.  Also, you must be prepared for the tight security check. Majorly the long lines for the body screening and luggage screening. And we would highlight that since curfews are quite common in Srinagar, so please move out early for the airport. 

 

Kashmir by Roadways: Travelling to Kashmir by roadways requires time. It is not easy and smooth as compared to the flights. Kashmir is connected to other cities and states by a network of highways too. There are buses from Delhi and Chandigarh especially, that take you to Srinagar. Via Jammu through the national highway. We would like to mention that bus journeys for long routes can be cumbersome. But if you are running on a budget with a lot of time then it is fine. But it is going to be tiring. Roadways are usually opted for by those who are more inclined towards backpacking. 

Also, another option is to take a cab or book a taxi from Jammu to Srinagar. And we highly recommend booking cabs before your travel, a few days before. So that you can get the cheaper cost. 

 

Kashmir by Railways: Travelling to Kashmir by train is fine. You will have to take the train to Jammu Tavi station, which is the only railway station in Kashmir. Well, Srinagar has a station which is 10kms far away from the city. It covers a few cities such as Anatang, Baramulla, Qazigad, and Banihal which are not yet linked to Indian railways. Jammu Tavi station is well connected to the major cities of India such as Delhi, Mumbai, Udaipur, Kanpur, and Pune. some of the trains are Lucknow Katra Special Express, Delhi Anand Vihar Katra Special Express, Pune-Jammu Tawi Jhelum Express, and Many others. 

 

Places to visit in Kashmir:

 

Srinagar: Srinagar, Kashmir is the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. Well, is known for its idyllic, quaint valley. When in Srinagar, you must begin your trip by Dal Lake. you can either opt for a houseboat or a Shikara ride. It is quite a hotspot for honeymooners and couples.
